Being that I’m what you’d call an “open-minded” Christian when it comes to social issues, my positions are not always in alignment with others who also practice or minister within the religion, and that includes Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. However, I have to give the pastor proper credit for his King’s Way program which builds a bridge between the Christian and Muslim communities. The intent is to discuss differences, clear up misunderstandings, and promote peace by acknowledging that the faiths are alike in many regards. There is no reason to judge someone of a different belief based on ignorance, fear, or hatred. We are all neighbors to each other, and we should treat each other accordingly. Pastor Warren’s program is a great example of our purpose with Waves of Gray, and for that, I salute him.
